Can you put a bicycle chain on a chainsaw?

I've been wanting to make a go-kart, and while most people I've asked say to use a lawnmower engine, I would think I would be easier to remove the chain guide from a chainsaw and put a bicycle chain onto it. I don't know if it would fit onto it though, it looks like a chainsaw chain is just like a bicycle chain with teeth on it, but I don't want to ruin a chainsaw only to find out that they're not the same. Can anyone help me out?
