Best SUV in icy weather conditions for a 20 yr old girl?

I'm 20 yrs old, and I'm trading in my dodge intrepid for an SUV. I learned how to drive in a jeep cherokee and absolutley loved it, but they don't make it anymore. I know you'll say it's how you drive it that makes it a good vehicle in snow, but my question is mostly about ice. I'm a good driver, thats not the issuse, with my intrepid I couldn't even get up a slight incline if there was ice. BIG difference going from a cherokee to an intrepid. so what I'm looking for is decent gas milege(I know SUVs arn't big on that) good traction, around $15,000 year 2004-2008. any ideas or help would be amazing!!! thanks!
