How should I style my hair for my school's winter recital?

My school's going to have a Winter Concert on December 8. I'm the first chair for violin, and I have two solos—although they're really easy songs: Joy to the World and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.—so this is going to be an important day for me. This is a middle school recital, also. I'm going to be wearing a black v-neck dress layered over a black camisole that falls over the knees with short sleeves, a v-shape silver necklace with black gems, a black cardigan with sleeves that go to the elbow, and black flats. How do you think i should style my hair? I'm Vietnamese, and I don't dye my hair, so it's black. I have an Asian mullet aka scene hairstyle, scene mullet, etc, so I have layers. I have side-swept bangs, too. I have naturally straight hair and my hair is kinda thin. It would really help me if you could like give me a link to a YouTube video, tutorial, or something so that I know how I should do my hair, I would really be grateful!! I was thinking of maybe doing a half-updo or something. I still want to keep some of my hair down since I don't look good in buns, but I'm not sure. So I'd really appreciate all help since this is a big day for me. Thanks!! By the way, I unfortunately suck at French braiding. :(
