A question about Nyquil?

Ok, so the medicine knocks me out in a matter of 10 minutes, but then I wake up constantly, not really in a deep sleep...so why is this? Like it helps you fall asleep, but doesn't keep you asleep. Does it have a lot of sugar or something in it?
