Legal Rights With Self Harm?
I have never SI myself, but I've recently completed a research paper on it. I understand now why you would injure yourself. With that said, the health care worker has a duty to warn someone if you are going to do serious harm to yourself, but in this case, if the worker is knowledgible about self-injurius behavior, then they know that your acts are not attempts to kill yourself-just ways to cope with problems; maladaptive yes, but not life threatening..and he/she will not break your confidence. Instead he/she will focus on your therapy, which by the way may increase the frequency of your acts initially. Just focus on your therapy-your worker has your best interest at heart. And remember--all people have problems, we just don't all deal with them the same ways.
