Small architecture office - marketing tips?

We have opened an architectural office in UK - small office, great ideas, no money for marketing. How do we get a commission if we can't afford to makes ourselves known, the competitions also are expensive an extremely time consuming. We tried direct marketing, but it doesn't seemed to work and now we run out of marketing ideas. Or comissions:). Can you guys give us any sugestions? We are extremely good and talentented, willing to hard work, we leave our well paied jobs just to be our own masters and we intentend to keep it that way. Thank you
